Mercer Field's Hot Job Search Tips for March

In this difficult market, remember that you only need one great opening. Avoid all negative discussions and remember the value that you add. We hear of people getting new jobs every day.  You may be next!  You will be next if you actively network, seeing ten people face to face every week and checking your process to be sure that you are networking, not just socializing.  Networking produces a  specific result that takes you forward along a wedge like path to a point.  When you explain how the meeting moved you or your strategy forward, the person who networked you will feel good for helping you.  Then you can say that with the new information, you wonder if he/she were in your place, who would be the first person he/she would call?

Five known antidotes for depression or depressed feelings:  Smile even without cause; it changes your brain chemistry.  Stay busy.  See people.  Exercise.  Touch something or someone living.  This really works.

A good marketing plan and a mind map together show you with whom to discuss what in order to find the right openings.  If you haven't learned how to do these, ask a friend or a member of CATS.

Thank someone every day.  Work to help someone less privileged.  Be sure to become a member of every professional or appropriate networking group in the area.
