There is immediate help available for any of your participants who lost their job with a financial services company after April 1, 2008 provided that the company is listed as eligible under the National Emergency Grant (NEG).  That assistance includes job search activities,  networking opportunities,  career coaching, and training funds for a new career.

And it’s all free.

Information and assistance, provided by the NEG grant,  begins with the initial meeting of the Career Development Network (CDN)  on Wednesday December 16, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  in the Landmark Conference  Center, Four Landmark Square, Stamford.

Your members are cordially invited to attend this important event as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.   To determine that, please ask them to  visit the website address --   www.workplace.org/docs/NEGlist.pdf --  to see if their former employer is on the eligible company list.  You can be currently employed or unemployed, live or work in Connecticut, and receive NEG benefits.

The December 16 CDN meeting is hosted by the Business Council of Fairfield County in conjunction with the Workplace, Inc., Southwestern Connecticut’s Workforce Development Board.  The Business Council serves the major corporations, professional services firms and non-profit institutions of Fairfield County.
The Workplace administers the NEG grant.

The CDN kick-off session will include representatives from major employers, executive search,  and other professional services firms, institutions of higher education, and community volunteer management organizations.  Join us for lunch and the opportunity to network with some of the people who will be conducting bi-weekly seminars and networking session from January through June.

Due to initial response, there is limited space for the December 16 meeting -- approximately 10 slots available. Nevertheless,  you should urge your NEG-eligible members  to call.  If remaining slots are filled, callers will be placed on a waiting list for a January meeting.   To register and/or for more information regarding the NEG grant, call me at 203-487-6879 or email: rstokes@businessfairfield.com.

Sincerely,

Bob Stokes
