Your Profile
Now that your Resume is completed
and is a veritable work of art, the next step in your successful job search is
to prepare your Profile.
Your Profile supplements your
resume, and is meant for use in networking meetings and networking groups.
It succinctly states core
competencies and qualifications. It communicates what you are looking for, and
puts your network in a position to help you achieve it.
It is especially helpful to your
network because it specifically identifies your target companies. For that
reason, it enables your contacts to refer you to individuals they know within
those companies. Once you have penetrated a target company through a personal
reference, your odds increase of eventually landing there.
Your Profile should contain the
following:
 |
Personal Contact Information |
 |
How You Add Value to Businesses |
 |
Job Objective-- Title / Industry |
 |
Key Accomplishments |
 |
Areas of Expertise |
 |
Work Experience-- Specific
Companies |
 |
Target Companies |
 |
Education |
Keep your Profile to a single page,
and bring multiple copies to all of your networking meetings. It tells your
contacts what you want and enables them to help you look for it.
