Your Written Job Plan

Once you have completed your Self Assessment, you will have a much better grasp on:

bullet

Your key strengths

bullet

Your strongest skills

bullet

Your core competencies

bullet

Your interests

bullet

Your ability to add value to an organization

With an understanding of these things in hand, it is time to prepare your one page, WRITTEN job plan.  Your plan must address the following:

bulletFirst, clearly communicate the four or five key strengths, skills, or core competencies that you have for sale. These can include the business issues you really like to deal with, how you can add value, how you can make a difference in an organization.

bulletSecond, determine what kind of work you want to do.  What functions?  What tasks?  This should be a combination of what you are good at and what you like to do.  It does not have to be what you are doing now.  Your skills ARE transferable.

bulletThird, figure out where you want to look for work.  What industries?  What companies?  Be as specific as you can in identifying target industries and target companies.  The answer to this question will provide focused direction regarding:

bullet

With whom you network

bullet

Which companies you research for job opportunities

bullet

With which companies you interview

bullet

Which job opportunities you seriously consider accepting

Your one page plan will keep you on track and focused.  Review it frequently.  Revise the content as appropriate, but do not contradict your Self Assessment.

The fact that you have a plan is paramount. The fact that you have it written down essential!
